A fun cow sketcher, using a Parallax 2-Axis Joystick and Zajal 0.3.5’s brand new Arduino support!
Shakespeare Insult Generator by Dr. David Berry. Don’t let the long s fool you, this sketch will hurt your feelings.
Presentation on ‘iteracy’ by Dr. David Berry. Fascinating concept, and an awesome sketch.
A demonstration o fZajal’s experimental Ruby Gems integration, which gives Zajal programmers seamless access to the entire Ruby Gems library of code.
The video uses the osc-ruby gem to communicate with a SuperCollider server via OSC.
The current implementation works for pure Ruby gems, but has issues with gems that incorporate native code.
Just discovered De Jong attractors. So simple, so beautiful.
A Zajal-powered video installation done by Brooklyn-based artist Haitham Ennasr. It uses the experimental Arduino support to control video playback and LED prompts to comment on the levantine tradition of waking up to the singer Fairuz.
This project is the best example of Zajal’s Arduino interface that is based on naming pins. Lines 19-21 set up the pin names and operating modes. Lines 44, 46, 73, and 74 write to
the named digital pins coffee and cig while lines 62 and 69 read from the analog pin named ir.
This sketch should really use perlin noise to move the circles around, but since that’s not in Zajal yet I threw together a vector field class that randomizes every ten frames. The vector field code is mostly a straight port from something Zach Lieberman gave us in class.
Changed one line in Polygonal Flower’s draw loop.
Totally different!
